Thanks to Brian Thomas for hosting myself and Nate Pelletier on his morning radio show to discuss recent tends in veteran suicide and the potential impact that the passage of the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019 will have on service members transitioning from the military.

President Trump signed this bill into law on October 17th. Among other things, the law will now enable grants to veteran collaborative organizations around the country over the coming years. In doing so, it will enable the scaling of the optimal business model to ensure veterans receive the coordinated services they need to transition effectively in their new communities upon leaving the service.

Why this matters is because it will help prevent failed transitions from the military. As such, and as Nate and I have demonstrated in our white paper on this topic, it will have a corresponding impact on lowering the rate of suicidal ideation in the post-9/11 veteran cohort.
