Updated Course on New Federal Resume Requirement

The federal government recently replaced its traditional federal resume format with a new two-page requirement. And since federal employment remains one of the most attractive post-service career options for veterans and military spouses, I’ve updated Mission Transition Course 6: Federal Resume Basics, based on lessons from my award-winning book Mission Transition.

This revised course includes:
✅ Samples of the government’s new two-page federal resume
✅ Guidance for translating military experience into federal hiring language
✅ Best practices for building or uploading resumes for federal positions
✅ Practical tips to help applicants avoid common mistakes that can prevent them from making the referral list

Whether you’re preparing for military retirement, separating from active duty, or helping others navigate the federal hiring process, this course provides a straightforward roadmap for building a competitive federal resume.

If you know a transitioning service member, veteran, military spouse, or career coach who may benefit from these resources, please feel free to share.
